Wow, lot's can happen in a few weeks. My latest adventure was taking a fun group down to Richmond, BC for the BMO Women's Charity Pro-Am. It was just the beginning of our adventure in Richmond as we found ourselves escaping from a hotel fire the same night. More Details!
On a brighter note, we are still going strong with the golf here in Kelowna. The weather has been pretty nice, a little cooler but very good golfing weather. Our final "New Players" event was September 30th! It was a great time at Kelowna Springs! 2005 pictures coming soon!
I have confirmed my new fitness location at Body Fit, Westbank 250.769.5117 I am very excited with the indoor golf programs we will be doing for everyone this fall and winter. It is not just about technique.................it's a lifestyle choice. Taking time out for yourself to get fit or stay fit while being able to improve your golf game for next spring. Sounds like fun to me! I will keep you posted on the details. If you have any requests for types of programs or what specifically you would like to learn about your game this year, please email me!
Again, thanks to all who have helped out this year for the Jr. Girls Club. A very special thank you to Martianne Munro, for all her volunteer time and dedication to the girls this year. It was a great time for all and we have some excellent memories (2005 season). We are gearing up for next year, if you would like to participate, let us know! 2006 Interest! Details of 2006 coming soon!
It's another busy week of lessons, keep on coming out while the weather is good. Now is the time to really take hold of your improvement and make those needed changes to get better!
See you at the range,
Tara

See Results this Year!
We are now entering into the "best time" of year to make changes and improve our skills. Many golfers do not realize when improving their game, it requires a time period of building new and better habits through repetition. So often when taking golf instruction in the technical mode, a player will not spend enough time to develop the motion with consistent repetition with proper evaluation. Rather golfers head out to the golf course to see how it goes? Quite often this results in too much thinking about technique on the golf course and not very good results.
What if you spent the latter part of the year to really hone in on the development of better sound mechanics of your grip, posture, rotation, balance, impact or finish position, short game chipping & putting. There are hundreds of drills to ensure your positions through the swing motion (from putting to full swing) can be successfully developed. Great for indoors, cold or wet winter days. As we have approached September, many competitive tournaments for the season are over plus day light hours are getting shorter.
Smaller and more concentrated efforts to improve in your basic fundamentals can see tremendous results, even before the snow flies. Another part of preparation for a better season in 2006 is your fitness levels. Local gyms are already gearing up for the business.
Keep checking back for new fall programs. All students with lessons left in your packages can continue into the winter. If you are committed to seeing your game get better yet would like to not have your training interfere with your spring playing, maybe consider the fall for your improvement so your 2006 gets a head start into the season.
We are also going to host a World Beat Customer Appreciation Event in conjunction with the POWERBALL Hole in One Contest September 18th. Call for details 250-765-7010.
Our Jr. Girls Club was a great success - thank you to all our participants. We are going to have our FINAL WIND UP for the girls on September 19th. If your interested in the details, email us tara@stargolf.ca
We are also continuing the New Players League in September for three weeks. September 16, 23 and 30th. Meeting at World Beat Family Golf for a warm up bucket, head to Kelowna Springs or Sunset Ranch for a Rules & Etiquette Clinic with Tara Roden, then we play 9 holes in a fun scramble format. We will take the first 20 players with payment. Check in for details!
Parwars - Return of the Student 2005
We are still in the process of organizing our fun Student golf event. We will release any information on it as soon as it becomes available.
Well, better get back to the range, have a great day!
Tara

It's been a great summer and lot's of fun golf. Just want to thank everyone for your tremendous support recently during the Kelowna Ladies Golf Invitational this past Monday and Tuesday. I had the great fortune of playing with some excellent players and great competitors.
Play by play & photo's of the days!
It was a great time and some of my best golf I have ever played. Although my score was at a good level, my shot making felt the best I have experienced in my whole 28 years of play. It is truly encouraging to know after such a long time playing I can still see improvement and results in my own game. It was very exciting to be tied for first after day one of the event with our local and national LPGA Champion Gail Graham with a 74. We were paired up in the final group on the last day along with Rhonda Poullos and Debbie Cross who had also had great first day rounds of 77 and 78 respectively.
It was a very close game the whole way through to the 17th hole where I was at 2 under par and Gail was at 4 under par. Having just missed the 16th birdie putt by a few inches and narrowly missing another birdie opportunity on the 17 by an inch, we went into the 18th with a 2 shot spread. I unfortunately did not finish well with a double (loss of focus.......I suppose) and Gail finish with a great round of 69 while I carded a 73.
It was truly exciting for us both. Gail mentioned she was pushed into having to play well in order to win this event and I was very happy to be the one to do it.
Congratulations to Gail in her win and thank you for a great time on the golf course. I really enjoyed the competition and look forward to when we can do it again.
We have a few more months of good golf left, if you wanting to do some improvement with your game - the fall is a great time to make changes to prepare yourself for a better game next year.
Many people forget with golf, changes take time and some focused practice, which in the fall can happen without worrying too much about your scores. Most the the tournaments are finished and your time through the fall and winter can prepare yourself for an excellent spring and summer of 2006.
We have lesson programs going right through to the end of October. I also will be looking into more indoor winter programs for skill development and fitness programs again with trainers.
Contact me anytime through email or call 1-877-444-0068 toll free.
Thanks again to my golfing friends and colleges for such an excellent summer and great time!

It is well into the golf season....... have you made any golf goals for 2005? We are naturally keen to improve, to learn, become better and be the best we can be. Is this something of a dream in your golf, do you resign yourself to stay the same, year after year?
What does it take to get better at golf? Certainly you do not have to practice an 8 hour day like the professional golfers on the tours do. The question you want to ask, what do I want from my golf? Fun? Better Shots? More frequency?
When you goal set, it does not mean you have to get "all serious". As a matter of fact, those who do get too serious about their improvement often hamper and delay improvement due to the stress created in the body. Keep it fun, no matter what your goals are. Golf is a game and is meant to be played!
So play and enjoy the learning process. Every time you go onto the golf course you can learn about your course management and mental game. Do your best to stay away from technical thoughts about your swing motion while on the course. This can lead to stress in the body and result in less than good shots.
If you want to improve your skills, you need a plan. Know what you want to learn, develop the skill away from the golf course and evaluate your body motion (not the ball flight). Add targets to your practice sessions. 50% of your time practicing should have a target in mind. Eventually your time put into changing and improving your technique will begin to show up on the golf course.
Do not expect miracles, your disappointment will lead to frustration and the end of pursuing a better game. We have a 1 hour mental training session designed specifically to cover "how to have more fun and be more effective" in your learning.
"Golf in Balance" is run many times through the season, just give us a call to inquire when you can join in the fun!
Set your goals and take action!
Cheers,
Tara

Happy Easter! We hope you all have enjoyed a great holiday weekend! New Tip!
We are less than a month away from our first Junior Girls Club event, April 18th. If you know of any girls 7 years to 18 years old who may enjoy the game of golf, from the complete beginner to the keen player.......please let them know about our new girls club. This is affiliated with the RCGA to promote the game for jr. Have a look at the details!
We are gearing up for an exciting year for the LPGG (Let's Play Great Golf) Tour with our first event April 11, hosted by the Kelowna Springs Golf Course. We have a new Points Race Sponsorship from the Scotia bank Group who has donated money for the points winners for the end of the season. There are still spots available to participate in either one or unlimited events if you have an 18 index or lower. Again, check it out!
We are getting closer to setting up our New Players League, to be played at a local course once a month with Robert, Dan and I to join in the fun and make your day on the golf course a great one. Watch for details!
Congratulations to all the Golf-Fit participants! Great job! We are winding up the classes next week and hope to have a fun golf event in the beginning of May to reunite our classes in a fun day at the golf course. We look forward to all 5 classes joining in with a day of great fun and golf together! Will keep you posted on the date and location chosen for the event!
As you are looking into the spring for better golf, remember there are plenty of coaching options for you. Either a commitment with one on one coaching or with friends and family - we can develop better skills, understanding and ways to lower the score through improved short game or full swing techniques. The newsletter will begin the Tips portion in April! Hope it helps!
Until next time,
Tara

Hello Again! I hope you are enjoying the new information on the website. I look forward to hearing of your golfing stories.........
Lots of exciting things happening! The golf courses are beginning to open and we will be out swinging in full force. Remember, if you have not been active through the winter and you are preparing to golf..........your muscles should be warmed up before you play, even before you swing at a driving range. I have learned from all the fitness trainers - Warm up before you stretch! I thought stretching was warming up..........but not true! You can do walking on the spot, large arm circles and then leg circle. Step side to side, get your heart rate up a bit.....your blood begins to flow and warm up the muscles before you begin to stretch.
I hope to share with you this season helpful tips to improve your game, so keep checking in. My Golf Tips section will include information learned at the Golf-Fit programs this past winter. Look for exercises to warm up, stretch, strengthen and improve your cardio in the near future!
Also, Robert Letvinchuk and I are joining up with Sandy Dawson of OK Today on CHBC Television to provide informative and fun spots on improving your golf. I will be back with more details as soon as possible!
For now, have a look at our new programs and hope to see you at the range!
Cheers,
Tara

Spring is just around the corner and we have lots of great jr. programs and adult lessons offered at World Beat Family Golf. If you have not been out yet we hope to see you soon. It was a fantastic weekend, sunshine was warm and many were out enjoying swinging the club once again. The Golf - Fit programs are going very well too! It has been excellent to work with such professional trainers....I know I am learning lots on fitness, as our students are enjoying both the Golf and Fitness aspects of these indoor programs.
Please have a look at our programs 2005 Adult, Junior & brochure details! We also have a 2 or 3 Day Golf School lined up for early April along with our 1/2 Days! Check it out!
See you at the range,
Tara

Hello Everyone, it's warming up! Looks very encouraging for all of the keen golfers anxious to try out the new golf gear from the holidays!
I am emailing the information to my students about the Fitness-Golf Programs. We are only taking a limited number of students, so register now if you are interested. We may offer more of these programs if there shows to be a strong demand. I personally am looking forward to becoming more fit this year. I have three excellent fitness guru's to work with!
Scheduling the time for yourself is the key, just like with your golf game. To dedicate a few hours for yourself every week, you can see improvements to reach your goals. I know how easy it is to say "Well, I could do this, but I have so many other things to get done in my day" Remember, we are only human. 24 hours in a day is not enough for the majority of us, but we have to make choices daily to how we use this time. You are the only one that can decide what is important for your happiness.
Do you just work, run the kids around, clean the house or look after others all day? Do you have habits that allow time to be wasted? Are your responsibilities in control of your life? It is our choices, what we have as priorities in our life. How about the responsibility to your own health and happiness? We all need some time to rejuvenate. There are many ways to do this. Fitness is a choice. You can have more energy for those other things that you really care about and are responsible for!
I have finally, after 15 years of working, working, working (which I love), I realized that my health and fitness have been on the back burner. Join me this year with a commitment to have more balance, a healthier and fulfilling life!
Best wishes,
Tara

Greetings! Just a note for the keen golfers that are in the Okanagan area that do not want to wait for the snow to leave before working on their golf game! Check the Fitness/Golf programs out, this will get you closer to your 2005 goals!

It is very sad, the loss of so many from the South Asia area & many world travelers that were visiting through the holidays. Our prayers are going out to all of the people that have been affected from this tragic disaster. This devastation can remind us how each day is a gift that we need to appreciate and make the best of our life. We should be even more grateful for what we have. This year will lend many opportunities to be thinking of others and lend a hand in need as the tsunami destruction will be long lasting in the repair of the many countries and communities that it struck. We are very proud of the World Response to this disaster and can only prove that there are still a tremendous abundance of caring, sharing and concern for the world communities. We should look to 2005 as being a year that can bring people together and improve our life.
Thank you to all that have responded to the cry for help in South Asia.
Sincerely,
Tara & Spencer

Thank you for a Great 2004!
It has been a very busy year & I would like to thank all my students, event sponsors and media personalities that have made this year such a great success. We are busy getting ready for the 2005 season. It is important to reflect, celebrate achievements and develop new & better ways to improve for the future! Thank you for your feedback. It is always greatly appreciated as we want to continue to grow and develop our services to meet your golfing needs!
All lesson programs from the 2003 & 2004 season with me that are uncompleted will be fully honoured in the 2005 season at the 625 Old Vernon Road, World Beat Facility. Contact me directly 250.768.1310 until re-opening in the spring.
Over the 2005 winter season there are many options to take up our recreational time. If you are keen to get a head start on the improvement of your golf game, check out the new Fitness/Golf programs that are coming up in January!
We are upgrading the Video System at the World Beat Family Golf & Recreation Center. Watch for the A-star State-of-the-Art Video Analysis with your lesson programs. Details in the New Year!
The Women's Golf Super League / "Lets' Play Great Golf" Tour was a great time & excellent beginnings for a more competitive golf tour for Women Golf Professionals of the C.P.G.A and L.P.G.A. plus the Amateurs both women and junior girls with an index of 18 or less. For more details!
Our Junior Programs for 2005 are very exciting, we will be releasing the details for our program in the end of January. Watch for Junior Week Camps, On-going Coaching, Introduction to Golf Clinics, School Programs plus Junior Girls League.
I will have an E-mail Newsletter coming out regularly in 2005 with updates on events, programs and golf tips. If your interested in being on this email list, please contact me. As for the website, I will be updating it much more regularly in 2005, so look forward to better updated information this year!
Thank you to all who participated in "Par War's Fun Golf Tournament" put on by Robert Letvinchuk, Dan Hamilton and myself, at the Sunset Golf & Country Club........what fun for the all, especially since it was the best non golf / golf event that we have ever hosted! We unfortunately had incredibly poor weather conditions and were unable to play the 9 hole Mexican Scramble. So instead, we had already planned for fun prize presentations, the food was excellent and we did manage to have the "Jedi Kights - Race" with 5 teams. This was exceptionally entertaining for both participants and spectators! Hope you can make it for next years event!
Thank you again for your business & friendship. Wishing you the very best this holiday, stay safe and see you in 2005!
Best Wishes,
Tara

We did some Jr. Girls programs and will look forward to exciting new programs for 2005 that will be linked with the CLGA Girls Club. Check it out!
Very sorry I have not been in touch with everyone! It has been a great year at the World Beat Family Golf & Recreation. Great to see many students drop by for a visit. I had a computer glitch this spring resulting in my hard drive blowing up and then losing access to my website. So I am again now back in action. Stay tuned for more interesting adventures, stories and tips this winter.
Maureen Bruce from Vancouver and I will be working together in 2005 with great programs to offer throughout BC. We hope to have more details for you by November!! Hello Everyone!
It has been a long time since I have written to you. Hope everyone had a great winter holiday, managed to have some relaxing time - maybe in the sun or in front of the fire with family and friends!
We are gearing up for a fun filled golf season. It is still cold with lots of snow here in Kelowna. I keep threatening to head south for the winters! I certainly know that many of you have traveled to the warmer regions of the world!
If your wanting to get a head start on the season, but not one of the lucky ones to be somewhere warm right now, maybe get out there and register for . There are many options available - this is the busiest time for indoor fitness such as Weight Training, Pilates, Yoga, Dance, Swimming, Circuit Training or even home ideas, get a rowing machine (like me) stretching tubes, exercise ball, mat & free weights - get a plan!
Not sure how - call your or your friends for referrals to who is a good fitness trainer near you. This will not only get you ready for the golf season, it will improve your lifestyle!
A few great books - "Golf is not a Game of Perfect" and "Golf is a Game of Confidence", both written by Bob Rotella (great inspiration) for the mental game.
So you see, you can prepare yourself both mentally and physically before the snow is gone! Now is the time - Seize the Day! Carpe Diem!
Well, that's it for today! Keep in Touch!
Cheers,
Tara
