It was a great event!  I wanted to share with you the excitement I had during a golf tournament this week at the Kelowna Golf & Country Club. It was the Ladies Kelowna Invitational where they have invited some local women golf professionals to compete along with amateurs, field of a 111.  One of the best events of the year!

I played probably the best golf in my entire life. Not necessarily the best scores but I hit the ball fantastic with my new Lopez Woods (mainly Driver and 7 wood) plus using my Lopez Irons (mostly short irons) hitting them probably the best I have ever hit irons. I have the Albany 250 series set.

This two day event was exciting as Gail Graham (who is now living full time in Kelowna) also joined in to play. I tied with her on the first day with a 74. (Par at Kelowna for women is 73). Then the second day we played together.

She holed in on the first hole for a birdie, I parred. We continued to par most of the holes with a few more birdies. As we approached the 15th green she was sitting at 3 under while I was close on her heels at 1 under par.

15th hole is a par 3, hit my 6 iron (160 yards) to 12 feet. She proceeded to hit her shot 8 feet.

I nail my putt for a birdie, she followed her's in for another bird.

She was then sitting at 4 under, while I was 2 under.

Approaching the 16th, par five, she just missed the green in two, while I was hitting a sand wedge to about 15 feet for another birdie opportunity. She chipped on to about 10 feet.

I proceeded to putt, perfect line leaving it 2 or 3 inches short in the heart to make a par. She missed her putt and had to may a 3 footer coming back. Making this we move on to the 17th par three.

I pured my 8 iron, right at it leaving myself another putt for bird (about 20 feet) while she hit hers onto the green by forty feet. She two putted for par.

I hit my putt perfect weight, only this time I was less than an inch left of the hole.

So there we have it, heading onto the 18th hole, she is lying 4 under par, while I was 2 under.

I think my focus began to wonder as I was running out of holes to catch her, knowing it was not a long par 5 for either of us. I hit a great drive, but it hit the slope of the fairway leaving me a side hill with the ball below my feet. She hit her drive into the trees but managed to get it back down the fairway without any difficulty.

I hit my second shot without allowing for the left to right ball flight and landed in thick rough in the trees with a difficult approach. I was all geared up to punch a 5 iron under the branched up the slope and onto the green. However to my dismay, I caught the grass and only managed to move the ball forward about 20 yards.

This left me with an easy sandwedge (one of my favorite clubs), but managed to blade it over the green almost hitting the now gallery which was looking on.

Gail hit her third shot 12 feet from the hole as I was sitting over the green with a very sneaky lob shot to a green sloping away. I was hoping for the best and almost holed it in, but narrowly missed and unfortunately rolled past about 20 feet. Gail and I both proceeded to two putt as she takes the win with a 69 and I came in with 73 par.

I must say, it was fun.

Thanks to everyone for your support!

Happy Golfing,

Tara
