History - This League has been formed as a memorial for the late Lynne Taylor. Lynne was an exceptional woman golfer, playing for both the Manitoba & British Columbia Junior Girls Provincial teams - along side Dawn Coe and Lisa Walters. Lynne later joined to be a member of the Canadian Professional Golfer's Association for the past 15 years.
January 31, 2000, Lynne passed away at the age of 40. Her surviving parents John & Shirley Ackert live in the Pentiction area. They received money donations for Lynne and have since decided to assign Tara Roden - long time friend of Lynne's - to use these charity funds towards junior golf. As a result, Tara has designated the funds for assisting female youth to enjoy the participation in the sport of golf! This league began at Kelowna Family Golf Centre in Kelowna and involved the Kelowna Springs Golf Club, Shadow Ridge Golf Club & the Sunset Ranch Golf Course for the 2000 & 2001 seasons. Was continued to be held at the Vintage Hills Golf Course in Westbank, BC for the 2002 season. We enjoyed an exciting 2005 & 2006 season, joining in with the CLGA Jr. Girls Club, a national league affiliated with the Girl Guides of Canada. In 2007 we offered a few play days sponsored by Gallagher's Canyon & Pinnacle Golf Course. Some top jr. girl players join in for clinics and golf. We enjoyed great friendship building. Thank you to the Gallagher's Canyon Golf Club for such excellent support. We are now looking forward to 2010, a great year ahead and lot's of fun, laughs and great golf to enjoy by all! Gallagher's Canyon will be the main host for this years programs. Lynne Taylor Junior Girls Club - a new opportunity that welcomes local participation for the girls to experience a fun, social & learning experience with a fun fills week series of a 1 hour clinic with food/beverage and golf. We expect to begin in May running through until September. Donations of equipment (clubs, balls, shoes, bags), plus there is a fun wind up event and will need prizes and volunteers to assist with the golf - golf leaders would be very much appreciated!
